Re: Various rods and reels for sale

Glad it got there ok! You had me do a double take checking to see if I accidentally posted it as a 7wt instead of a 5wt! ha.

Re: A beautiful rod, well priced

I have an 11' 8wt Plat switch for steelhead and purchased it at a local shop here in NE Ohio. So they do distribute, they just aren't well known yet outside the Pacific NW.

Its a nice switch rod...

Re: From Salmon River NY to Pere Marquette MI

There are definately places to wade fish on the upper Pere. But there are a lot of drift boats too....sometimes its also comical with the traffic jams they cause.....but no different than the Salmon...

Re: Vedavoo Sling Pack Review

Product looks nice, and maybe its just me, but they seem awful price for what little you get. Makes some of the Simms and Patagonia stuff seem like a steal.

Re: Scott vs. Winston

I have both the Radian and S4...each in a 9' 5wt config. Love them both - the Radian for dries and nymphs, S4 for streamers.

The only Winston I've ever cast is a 9' 5wt VSL, which really isn't in...

Re: 20lb OR 30lb Dacron backing on Salmon rig

30lb is good, and it'll fill the spool up better.

Re: G. Loomis NRX 8/9 Spey

Thanks guys! I bought the rod - but I haven't had a chance to use it yet. I'm heading up to the Dean in 3 weeks and just trying to figure out what heads to take. I have everything from 350 thru...

Re: Laces vs BOA

I switched to BOA's a few years ago when Simms first came out with them. Since then, I use the Korker's with BOA laces as they are about 50% lighter than the Simms boots. Seeing as how I fish in...

I'm getting to this post quite a bit late, but since I live in "steelhead alley", I can give you some insight as to what I use.

Re: For SCOTT ROD Fans...

Was really hoping for a new switch rod series that was stiffer, similar to that of the old Sage TCX (aka Deathstar).

Re: Difference between Loomis NRX Green or Blue?

As far as I am aware, its purely cosmetic. Same handle, size, grain, etc.

I ordered the blue/grey......but thats because I'm a huge Scott fan and have several of their plain grey rods.

Re: Nautilus Reel

I have to assume that will be too small/light to hold the line and properly balance. On my G Loomis 8/9 NRX, I am running a Nautilus CCF X2 6/8, and that's barely enough to hold the...

I never have. How are they weighted - would they properly balance the rod or give you an arm ache?

G. Loomis NRX 8/9 Spey

Does anyone have experience with this rod and what skagit grain they have had success with? I know the manufacturer says 550gn skagit, but I have to assume that tossing 10-15ft of T11 or T14 plug...

Yep - brown, black, and olive. Don't discount yellow rabbit strips though, not sure what it is about them but the brownies love yellow.
