Thanks for all the tips. I'll follow up with Montana Flies, and have a go at tying some of the patterns you suggest. I don't have pattern specs(recipes) for Grey Ray Charles , Soft Hackle...

Many thanks for the advice; should help limit the number of fly boxes I take(usually take too many on trips to new locations and don't use most!)

had some problems on an 8wt line with cortland loops. came off. fortunately only when i was stretching the line before starting to cast, and not when i had a fish on. went back to nail knots!

thanks for the advice. i've got some coho flies in the colors suggested that i can trim down. my trip is next week. i'll let you know how it goes.

anyone got any suggestions as to what fly patterns would be suitable for sockeye in fresh water(i know they have a bit of a reputation for being difficult to persuade to take a fly!)
