Re: Need Help w/bluegill flies what to make

Bluegill Spiders.....The gills here love them. Easy to tie as well. Mine are size 10-12 and are black with black or white legs....I've had a lot of 50+ fish days on them.

Re: Has anyone targeted flathead catfish?

I've caught a few Flatheads on the fly. Mine were caught on woolly buggers and clousers. My next goal is a behemoth size flatty and my plan of attack is to use a big shad or bluegill imitation and a...

Re: heavy wt. injuries

I get sore sometimes casting and fighting fish. A TiCR X 7wt and several good sized carp and cats will leave one quite sore.

Another instance of being sore was when I first used my switch rod out...

Here's my $.02...

I have fished a lot of fly lines over the years. Starting out from the wonderful Shakespeare level line, to the fancy Sharkskin, and many in between.

I have on my rods right...

Re: Gallbladder out

Day two and I feel great. Barely any pain except a small twinge near the belly button incision when I stand up. I managed to eat some chicken noodle soup last night too. Besides a bit of burping, it...

Re: Best 5 wt under 250.00 ?

I have an 8wt Crosswater that I use for bass and small pike. A Rio Smallmouth line works like a charm on mine. I also own an 8' 4wt Imperial and it is a great rod as well. I run a SA GPX line on...

Re: Click and Pawl Reels

For click and pawl reels, my vote goes for the Redington Drift. It's machined very well and it just plain "feels" nice. I have the 2/3 and love it.

Re: Lake fishing with a sink tip

I've been known to run a full-sinking line on my 6wt when fishing in reservoirs for suspended Yellow Perch, Crappie, and Bluegill.

Re: Best 5 wt under 250.00 ?

The Redington Torrent and BVK are fine rods in that price range. I have cast both and they are smooth and easy-casting.

Re: Gallbladder out

When I had my most recent gallbladder "attack" before surgery, I also discovered what pain really was. I couldn't stand up straight and had to get a shot of something strong because I almost passed...

Re: Gallbladder out

Yeah, it hurts a bit when I laugh or take a deep breath. I haven't sneezed yet thankfully, but hiccups weren't fun.

Gallbladder out

Well, I made it through the surgery yesterday and went home the same day. I'm a bit tender by my belly button and right side ribs. It doesn't hurt too bad. No nausea. However, I gave my wife and...

After a short trip today, I came back smelling of victory. I hauled in two small Freshwater Drum, a larger Drum, one dinky Largemouth Bass, and a Bluegill who took a ride on my backcast. The winning...

Re: TFO BVK or Mangrove?

I may be out of my muddy freshwater element, but I own a 7wt BVK and a 7wt TiCR X. The BVK is a great rod for casting all day because it is light and casts very nice. I have not tried a Mangrove, but...
