Re: Camper/Trailer Stories....

Why not get a small off road trailer and put a kennel on it for the dogs. That seems like it takes care of them not having enough space on the back seat. Could you mount roof racks to carry gear if...

Re: Panfish Rod: EC Featherlight or something else?

My kids are using the 6'6" 4/5 a lot in the salt and limited fw that we do. We've put old BFR cartridge reel on them with a 5 line. They provide a lot more feedback that the carbon fiber #7 we also...

Re: NRX Satisfaction

Have a #9 & #11, they are both great rods. Had to work through some issues with the way the fighting butt was glued on.

It will be a long, long time till the #9 leaves my hands.

Re: Orvis Recon or TFO BVK

I don't think you'll be able to take the rod and tube on as carry on for the Australian leg.

Re: Which 7wt rod to buy

There is an Australian distributor for TFO and the turn around is quick and reasonable. I don't think the BVK break any more than any other rod. Friends and I have put a lot of hours fishing them...

Re: TFO BVK or Mangrove?

I pointed up a couple of my fishing buddies with TFO BVK #9. Their skill ranged from novice to tragic. They all manage to get what they need out of it. In fact the novice caught his first fish on...

Re: Rod Recommendation

The lighter (newer) nine weights are the new eight weights.

I find that I either fish with a nine or something smaller than an eight. Having said that I'm on the other side of the world and...

Re: "Dunkable" 8wt. Fly Reel?

I used to think I would change lines regularly and that is why I got a QC and some time later a spare spool. I very rarely if ever change lines on the water as my water depth doesn't change...

Re: "Dunkable" 8wt. Fly Reel?

I have been using an Everglades QC as my only reel for nearly 10 years. Only fish salt, avg 60-80 days on the water, gets dunked in about half of the trips. A rinse, air dry and ready for next time....

Re: Epic fiberglass builds

Nice blanks and better build. How do they cast post build?

I've been admiring these Epic blanks and the CTS Quatz ones looking to build them up as a light salt fibreglass rod.

Re: 2013 8-Weight Challenge: What's the Best Saltwater Fly Reel?

It is all grist for the mill particularly the overall score. It is good to see some form of comparision with some relatively sophisticated and unbiased testing.

hopefully you'll get to do it...

Re: Need help deciding on a new 9wt....

I reckon you've reached the point of information saturation and decision overload.

Got luck with your decision and hope you get to cast before you buy a bit.

Re: Need help deciding on a new 9wt....

There has been a couple of thoughts on the BVK breakages. My reading of the tea leaves is most of them have been operator error :icon_roll.

These photos are of my friend Tony who bought the BVK...

Re: Need help deciding on a new 9wt....

My group of friends and I haven't swung an echo ion but three of them just purchased BVK 9wts after trying one. I have to say they like them a lot, as do I. They cast great and fight fish well.
