There are some quality bamboo rods available for less than $1000 - $800 as well. My single tip rods are less than $800 and they are 100% US made. If you want a big name though, you likely will pay...

Not good looking cork. Looks like it had filler that has fallen out. The bottom grip looks like it has a good bit of filler too.

Of course a filler free grip is quite expensive.

The case is turned out of laminated stock. It was never destined for rod making. I have thought about trying to do something with my waste strips but haven't found anything other than selling them...
