Re: My rod tried to use ME as the bate!!

Money spent on a casting lesson or lessons is well spent. IMO. Sometimes fly shops even have small group lessons for very reasonable prices. A good instructor can keep you from picking up bad habits...

Re: Billy Pate Bonefish

You can always sell it to a lefty (like me) if you don't like it. I have a bonefish and a tarpon. Sent the old Tarpon in to Tibor for service and they replaced the shaft and gear for just the...

Re: Otto's Fly Rods?

I bought a reel from Otto's. It's a nice reel, but I haven't tried the rods. Bought a couple of Gremlin fishing's emerald matrix from ebay and really like them. Really nice rods for not a lot of...

Re: colton rods?

I just fished one for a week in Baja with no problems. I love the way it casts and caught quite a few fish but no real monsters beyond what I thought an 8 wt should handle. I'll buy another when I...

Re: Elkhorn rods and reels

I have a Traveler in 7 wt. I got to use it on about a 20 pound baby tarpon and had to lean on it pretty hard to get the fish around some obstructions. Handled it with no problem. I also like the...

Re: Which New Wading Boot?

Just bought the patagonia rock grips. Will let you know after a few miles in them. I've always heard Patagonia's warranty is second to none.

Re: Introductory Reel for a beginner..

I'd go with a 3 or 4 wt rod, 4 if the fish are a little bigger and 8 to 9 feet long, depending if you fish areas that are open or brushy. I think the longer rod is easier to cast unless you don't...

Re: Has anyone received their Nano Ti rods yet from Allen?

I cast my 4 wt Nano ti in the backyard then swapped the line to my 4 wt Echo carbon for a comparison. I can throw a little more line with the Echo and like the feel a little better, but that's just...

Re: allen trout reel

My experience has been pretty similar to Arkman's except no reel, no refund and I did not ask for free advice or anything else, just what I paid for in November. Lots of promises of next week until...

Re: Allen Fly Fishing - Product Discounts

Interesting- I've been waiting for a reel for months and two weeks ago he said he'd send a refund. Nothing yet.

Justin,
When the order was placed you said a couple of weeks. Then you said early December and it went on and on. Not until January sometime did you ever mention problems with guides, blanks, etc...

Re: Has anyone received their Nano Ti rods yet from Allen?

Good luck, kap10. I ordered an 8 wt, two reels some lines and paid for them on November 3rd. Finally got a 4 wt in February one of the reels two weeks ago and the lines and incidentals trickled in...
