Re: Fly Size to Tippet Size

Riverbilly use 4x or 5x and tye the 16 behind your larger streamer. I like flashback phesant tails and hairs ears, but just about anything 8" to 12" behind will do.

Re: Reel figured out, now which lines?

for steelhead you could go with WF/F or a shooting head, you may even get away with just a sinking leader on WF/F

for the deeper depth deffinatly a 300 + full sink line

sound like fun

Re: i may begin fly fishing... questions and advice?

I would ay the fly rod bland because the spin rod would not load or flex enough to cast a fly line, keep in mind as mentioned the fly rod will not have the back bone of a bait caster

IMO your 6 wt is good for bass/bluegill and such, you will brob want to get a 3 or 4 wt down the road for small dry presentation. For pike and muski I prefer an 8wt or larger, can be done on lighter...

Re: Barbed hooks? What's your opinion?

I go barbless = easier to get out of my ear!:)

bigger flys like PIKE and STRIPERS most salt water I will leave the barbs on thats about 10% of my fishing though
