Re: Mistakes....

I've learned that if you are in the front of the boat and you can see that the rower is going to hit a rock, pointing at the rock and saying several times "You're going to hit that.." without holding...

Re: Bonneville Dam fish cameras.

I may head down to the lower Clearwater early next week.
If you see a long haired guy in a red raft with a frame that looks like a jungle jim that's me.
Feel free to say hello!

Re: The Night Owl Fishing Thread;

Just got back from the Deschutes and Klickitat last night.
The Deschutes was epic, the Klickitat not so much though I did hook a Chinook around 25 pounds that I didn't keep because I hadn't read the...

Re: Best way to tie a woolly bugger?

I pretty much tie all my buggers with a bead head.
I use schlappen for anything larger than a 4 and don't tie anything larger than a size 1, 4x long. I go to circus peanuts and other streamers if I...

Re: Bull Trout

That will work, they aren't really all that tough to get to bite.
The fly just needs to be big, have some movement and down in their zone.
They'll certainly come up but the deeper the better and...

Re: Fly Shop Owners?

I expect people to show what I think is common courtesy, if they don't I judge them accordingly, to a degree, as does the rest of the human race, everyday, all the time. I think that's pretty...

Re: Fly Shop Owners?

I don't disagree with you, however I think it is in incredibly bad form to grill a fly shop for info and not buy a couple of flies or whatever.
I'm certainly not comfortable doing it.

The info...

Re: Fly Shop Owners?

"The customer is always right" is one of those idiotic phrases passed off as conventional wisdom by poor managers.
The vast majority of customers I've dealt with over the years in various jobs have...

Re: Coolers

I have a Yeti in my raft.
The difference between it and all the other coolers I've owned is night and day.
It holds ice for ever.

Week long river trips maintaining ice in the cooler is just not...

Re: Best fighting fish?!

Pound for pound in freshwater I'd have to say smallmouth bass.
But they don't make blazing runs, they dart around in the general vicinity, bust out some serious air from time to time and tend to dog...

"The current Canadian record for smallmouth is nine pound and thirteen ounce.."

The Minnesota state record is 8lbs.
The Wisconsin state record is 9lbs 1oz.
The Michigan state record is 9.25lbs....

Re: Musky's are a cruel beast.

Well, at least you got one.
I was just in your neck of the woods last week.
I dragged the raft back with me from Montana.

We spent a couple of days fishing the Chip and the Flambeau. I threw...

Thanks, it's no big deal if I can't do it. I was just wondering.

I opened " edit post" at the...

Re: Fishing Wyoming (additional photos 7/23/14)

Nice fish.

Hey, how did you edit the thread title?
I tried to do that on my "Greetings from Montana" thread and it only changed the title for each post instead of the main title.
I just wanted...

Re: Right tool for the job ?

I agree with Fred.

I do a lot of fishing in Montana with a Sage One 6126. It's slightly over-lined with 480 grain Skagit and I usually run 10 feet of T-17.

This is all on the heavy side for...

Yeah, seriously man.

That pretty much goes for everyone else on the forum.
