Re: Chasers no takers?

Re: So do you fish alone or with a group?

Most of the time, I fish alone. I can fish on my own schedule that way, and if I miss lunch, or supper, being on the water was better anyway. Sometimes I will fly fish with my Daughter, but we...

Re: Flies

I agree with Frank somewhat. I find myself working more on how the fish are feeding, and completing a presentation to that pattern. To illustrate, yesterday I was fishing the inlet of a mountain...

Re: Tying tippet to leaders

I always used to use a blood knot, however, as eyesight gets feeble and hands fumble, I find myself using a sliding knot instead. Easier on both the eyes and fingers to tie.

Re: Bought a Pontoon Boat today

Congrats. I bought a Creek supersport 9 last week, and have had a fantastic time with it on small high country lakes. I agree with the other poster, get some flat water experience first. They do...

Re: Pontoon boats

I have just had more fun than should be legal. Just one issue with wind on the small lake I have been fishing, and that's an anchor. I didn't have anything handy to use other than an old 2 5/16 hitch...

Re: Yampa River, CO

Glad you picked up a few, even though it sounds like the pressure was heavy. I went to High School in Hayden, so grew up fishing the Yampa from there up to Steamboat. Miss that area. Great pictures....

Re: Pontoon boats

Mulled this over, pondered brands, options, and prices. My youngest son and I are in Gunnison, CO for a couple weeks of fishing the Taylor and surrounding streams. I had stopped into the Gene...

Re: New member Gary Benson- with a great question

Welcome Gary. My daughter and I ran onto the same type issue on the San Juan a couple weeks ago. A hatch came off. Very small, upright wings, and I don't have a clue what they were, but we did very...

In the early '70's, Steamboat Lake, North of Steamboat Springs, CO. My dad and I were fishing late evening with black wooly worms. The resevoir was fairly new and where we were wading the lake had...

Re: Newbie Rod buying advice please

I just bought a 2 piece Sage Flight 9' 5wt. I love the rod, and feel it would be a fantastic choice. I agree with the other posters that you could skimp a little on the reel to make the rod more...

Re: Sharing information on the water: what is the proper ettiquette?

My daughter and I were on the San Juan last Saturday afternoon. We waited out a rain shower in the pickup, and in the process lost most of our competition who had gotten soggy on the river. We picked...

Re: Some Things I have Learned as a Newbie Fly Angler

Oh, no, you can blame the wind, the sun in your eyes, hand was sweaty, and the rod/club slipped. :icon_bigg I have excuses ready for both fly fishing and golf.

Re: What knot do you tie your fly on with?

Ok, so I am knot challenged. Only thing I ever learned to tie was an improved clinch.

Re: How Many Fly Boxes Do You Carry In Your Vest/Pack?

This is the pits. I happily clicked 4 as I used to keep a box each of dries, wets, streamers, and one last box of nymphs in my vest. Just taking up fly fishing seriously again after a several year...

Question Pontoon boats

Maybe I didn't search enough, but I am pondering one person pontoons. Most of my travel/recreation/RVing/fishing is done in a 5th wheel RV which won't take a rear hitch to double pull a boat behind....
