Re: Thinkfish Bold semi auto reel

Just a wee update on the Bold semi Auto.
I fished it today after loading it with a Cortland 444 WF#5 floater.
I could have put a lot more backing on, as you can see from the pictures.
It felt...

Re: Feather Craft Furled Leaders

I make and use furled leaders, have for several years, I don't suffer with water spray when lifting off to recast anymore than I did when using mono tapered leaders.
The use of a very fine thread is...

Re: Reel suggestions for Hardy Zenith 8'6" 4wt 4pc

Totally agree, the new Ultralite DD and the CC are very nice reels.
I bought the 2000 and the 3000 click check reels when they first appeared, the spool design is excellent, the narrow LA spool...

Re: Sage SLT vs. Sage ZXL

Hi Mike, both great rods I think, I find my SLT just a touch crisper than the ZXL.
I sold the ZXL a while back as I just wasn't using yet, and the SLT became my go to every time.
Here in the UK the...

Re: I Met Myself Last Night...

A lovely story Jerry, no doubt you will still have Montgomery at your side for years to come whilst fishing.
My late father still fishes with me, and he passed away 15 years ago. ;)

Re: C&F Fly Boxes: Are They Worth It?

Ain't that the truth!

Getting back to the fly box, I appreciate that the Japanese designer deserves complete respect for his initial design, and I would think by now, he must be a very rich man, ...

Re: C&F Fly Boxes: Are They Worth It?

I have cast with the Zenith, and I agree, it's a fine rod, I just don't need anymore rods, can't believe I said that!! Reels are my soft spot, just can't say no to a fine reel.
I meet Howard a few...

Re: C&F Fly Boxes: Are They Worth It?

S&S, it is very disappointing to see so much of the "Hardy" tackle now being imported from Korea, I understand why these things happen, market forces, labour costs etc, but it sort of takes the cream...

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, as they say, and I agree, a great design.

Re: C&F Fly Boxes: Are They Worth It?

I have both C&F and the so called knock offs, which I was reliably informed by the supplier, whose name I won't reveal, came from the same factory.
I have studied both in detail, and apart from the...

Totally agree, I have three Winstons, a B11t 8.6ft #4 an early DL 4 8ft#4 superb dry fly rod, real classic, and a 9ft #6 B11x for the still waters.
Each one is different obviously, but all suit me....
