FS: Renzetti Presentation 4000 Rotary Cam Vise w/Std. Pedestal Base

I am the original owner of this vise, and bought it just at the time when I moved to New Mexico, where fly fishing opportunities are few and far between. Now that I've returned to the Bluegrass...

Re: Help me decide....

I suggest that everyone should consider the Lamson line before purchasing any reel. They are finely made and innovatively designed.

Re: why do you fly fish

Hard to put into words. I suppose because it's the most graceful (when done correctly, which is something I seldom acheive), kinetic, and sporting way to catch fish?

Re: Best value in all USA-made Rod/Reel combo?

AusableBrown: I wonder what happened to Scott's A2 series? I bought one (6wt, 9', 4 pc) about six years ago, and I'm pretty sure it was in the $250-$275 price range. Still completely American-made;...

Re: Fly vest?

I really like the Orvis Clearwater Mesh Vest. This is the first (and only) fly vest I've ever owned, and it has given me 4 years of service with no problems whatsoever. Most of Orvis' stuff is...

Re: Lost In Purgatory

Dave: Several years ago I moved from the Bluegrass area of Kentucky to Las Cruces, NM and subsequently down the road about 45 miles to El Paso, TX. And I lived in that area of for almost 5 years...

Re: Anyone notice that the Orvis Access is now made in the U.S?

Yes, Orvis should be commended for manufacturing more rods at their Vermont facility. Seems like LL Bean is going in the other direction: they used to have their mid-priced Double L Classic rods...

Re: Things Found on a River

Love the photos. Nice to see someone stop and smell the roses. I sometimes get too fixated on just catching fish and miss some of the other good stuff that's around.

Re: Noobie dumb question

I was going to suggest exactly what Brookfieldangler did: Find a pond or small lake that has some decent sized bluegill, tie on a #10 or #12 popper, foam ant or bee with a 3x tippet, and find a open...

Re: Best value in all USA-made Rod/Reel combo?

SweetandSalt: Great post! Sums up my sentiments exactly.

Ausablebrown: Thanks for pointing out the Lamson Guru. It took me a few minutes to confirm that this reel is made in the USA; and indeed...

Re: Best value in all USA-made Rod/Reel combo?

Mysticism: You make a good point. Kind of like saying that Fords and Chevys are made in the USA, although they're full of foreign-made parts. I'm not sure what the law is in the US, but in Germany...

Re: Best value in all USA-made Rod/Reel combo?

You guys have come up with some great ideas for combos; however, it is a tough proposition to find all-USA stuff and do it for around $400, isn't it? Under $500 gives you some more options, but not...

Best value in all USA-made Rod/Reel combo?

Every time I see a thread, or hear someone ask, what is the best value in the fly rod and reel combination, I'm saddened by the fact that it's virtually impossible recommend a combo that is made in...

Frank: Thanks for pointing out the difference in place of manufacture between Ross USA and Ross Worldwide. I used to know this stuff, but I've been out of the fly fishing game for about 4 years.

Re: Do you buy or tie?

I got into fly tying about 2 years after I took up fly fishing. I always thought it would be an expensive hobby, but people kept reassuring me that I could get into it for about $100. HUH!!! With...

Re: Some Decent Gill's

Man, those are huge! I'd have to go down to Kentucky Lake or Lake Barkley to find comparable 'gills in my area.

Congratulations and bon appetite!

Re: first 'gill on a dry this year

In my book, nothing more fun that fishing for 'gills with poppers and foam flies. And is thre anything better in the skillet than a mess of panfish?
