I like the look of these flies, the use of bucktail and the floatation it provides makes for a great river fly for skinny water.

I tie a similar pattern for early spring musky when I am casting to fish in real shallow water the small amount of peacock really adds a great silouette or top line that I feel helps define the minnow shape.

George Langley, a real pioneer in musky fly fishing uses a similar pattern but his flies use maybe 20% of the material as he believes less is more in real clear water. When I first started chasing musky on the fly 20 years ago I tied alot of fly based on his and caught alot of fish.
