Pasagshack Special, Silver Salmon
This is a variation of the famous Umpqua Special tied and named for use in The Pasagshack River on Kodiak Island. This past season the fly hooked up with five silvers and landed three of them. Two were hens and were released one male was harvested using this pattern. Not bad for a one day trial.
The Recipe;
Hook: Single salmon your choice size & make
Thread: Black silk
Tail: Small bunch of orange buck tail
Body: Rear third cream natural wool yarn, front two thirds orange wool yarn
Rib: Oval silver tinsel
Wing: Sparse orange buck tail mixed with silver crystal flash
Collar: Brown saddle hackle wound then tied back
Head: Lacquered black tying silk
The Fly;
