Default Purple Jay Spey Fly

As I was tying the other night this pair of European Blue Jay wings were laying there on the bench just begging to be wrapped onto a hook.So I pulled a few of the feathers off and prepped them for tying. While doing so there were a couple of ideas swirling in my head ,this is one of them brought to life on a Daiich 2051 size 5 . Nice color selections Allen, similar combinations work well for me. matter of fact I just picked up more purple dye and some claret too. You make nice neat flies,

Thank you guys! I love the challenge when new materials cross the desk. And this is the very first time I have tied with blue jay . It takes a fair amount of time to prepare the feathers to tye ,splitting and cleaning the center out of the feather so it wraps well and doesn't leave a lot of bulk at the head.
