Default The Celtic Beauty

I designed this fly late this past Spring. On its maiden swims it hooked 14 atlantic salmon by 3 anglers in one morning. I landed several fish, including a 20 pound male, on it two weeks ago in New Brunswick.

The recipe:

Tag: Gold oval tinsel to suit hook size
Butt: Dubbed black beaver underfur
Body: Uni Bright Yellow floss
Rib: Gold oval tinsel
Throat: Hareline UV minnow belly flash under claret hen
Wing: Dark green flash under deep green hair of choice (mine is Polar Bear)
Head: Black

I named this fly for its rich Celtic colors, and for its roots - believe it or not - in Carrie Stevens' Green Beauty streamer.

Brian, for low water flies, I typically use the Daiichi 2139. For regular to higher flows, I use the Daiichi 2441. I do on occasion use other brands and styles, but those are my mainstays. I tie it from size 10 to 1.
