Default yellow and blue shrimp...carrons

OK...after some coaxing...I tried a few more colors...either dyed rooster...or some goose biots I had...

the yellow is supposed to be the real dope in Ireland and Scotland this time of year...its so cold here I dont even want to be far from the woodstove...let alone the water...my friend brought over the drift boat today to do some work on it...it was so cold we never got out of the truck except to un-hook the boat and stick a piece of firewood under the hitch...the work will get done once the weather warms up...its definetely fly tying season!

my friends are leaving tomorrow for a trip to what they call a hot "beat" in Scotland...
nope...these flies dont touch the work many do here...and arent meant to in any way compare...but if they catch fish...well...thats cool...and I think they will...especially where they are used to looking at the "super doopers" the folks tie up over there...

yellow supposedly really pisses of the monster salmon...

and why not blue..wings down..

the shrimp these are patterned after don't in real life dont have tails...they are meant to get the attention of some rogue steelhead or salmon...the head on the yellow came out better...smaller is better...sometimes its easy to get carried away with the shape...and lose track of how much thread you are spinning out...

st patty's is coming...and there is some green coming up...
involving some double hooks...and some elk and turk w/ some emerald colored hackles!

this one below is probably the best of the batch of 24 I made up...#21 or 22 I think...it has the best proportions and lengths etc...

yellow and blue makes green dosen't it??
