Fox, I gave your pattern a shot and after a couple tries, I came up with this:

I didn't have the same material so this one is made with EP Fibers. I'm excited to give it a shot this weekend on a nearby spring creek that's loaded with sculpins and some big browns.

Oh, great job! That's a killer fly. Many a trophy fish would go for that in my neck of the woods....

dshort,
That is the best first attemps I have ever seen, great job. Don't forget to thin the fins with some thinning scissors so the fins will move back and forth. Is that EP fibers or what?

You can also make Great Lakes gobies with this same technique.

Thanks for the compliments, wait till you snag a good 'un.

Fox

I didn't see the part about that being ep fibers. Ep is quite thicker than Polar Aire or SLF. How well does ep take the permanent marker pen's ink?

I guess I need to start another thread and so ya'll can see my HPU Patterns which I have worked on for a year. Maybe I could get them to post the article I wrote about them on this site.

Glad ya'll like my sculpin. My clients and I have caught a lot of trophy trout on them. They are my favorite smallmouth fly where the sculpin is present. I have caught river walleye on them also.
