Re: Peaking Caddis
I got it out of a book I have...Fly tying for beginners. The original recipe calls for;
Hook: 8-12 long shank
Thread Olive
Tail Cream Sparkle Yarn
Rib Gold Wire
Body Hare's fur
Hackle Brown Partridge
Head Gold Tungsten Bead
In mine I actually used a red crystal dubbing, an orange cone weight, and hen pheasant feathers. It is simple to do, fisrt put the bead on followed by some wire. Next attach the sparkle yarn (I used regular yarn) it also says to burn the tip to give it the black head and to keep it from coming undone. next attach the hackle and gold wire. Wrapp the hackle just around the head. Use the rabbit fur for the dubbing and wrapp it around the shank to the bead. Lastly wrapp the gold wire and secure. Thats all the is to it. I'd have to think that any type of fur or dubbing would do and any type of feather would do as well.
