Default Dragonfly

I have some iridescent plastic ribbon and wanted to use it on a fly. After some messing around I ended up with a dragonfly. I'm a newbie so it's not very pretty but I think it'll work! Have people had luck using dragonfly immitations? What should I expect?

"I have a river runs through it on blue ray, so yeah, I guess you could say I know a thing or two about fly fishing."

Here's the recipe - DON'T LAUGH!

-Iridescent ribbon that fell off 4yr old girl's bike handlebars (neighbor's kid - it's all over my yard!)
-Foam head was cut from pipe insulation (recent home improvement project)
-Chartreuse Craft Fur Plus
-Hook size varies depending on size of dragonfly. Use your own judgement here.

1 - Tie the craft fur on top of the hook shank. I went almost to the eye of the hook to give the fly some girth along the body.
2 - Fold the ribbon into loop and tie on top of the fur towards the front. Put two loops on each side. I added a dab of hot glue to the wraps.
3 - Cut the foam into a dragonfly head shape leaving tabs on the front/back for the tying thread. A dab of hot glue on the bottom helps secure to the hook shank. While it's not anotomically correct, I put the foam head right on top of the wing wraps to help protect the delicate ribbon connection point.
4 - I used a black sharpie to draw lines into the craft fur.

I hope to use it this weekend. We'll see how it goes!

...actually this one has the head a little forward of the wings. My other, smaller one I put the back of the head on top of the wings.
