Cains River Miramichi Redux
2 Attachment(s)
I've been fishing for years by using my large inventory of flies tied throughout the seventies and eighties. During that time I lived in Pennsylvania and had to travel to Newfoundland, New Brunswick, and the north coast of Maine in order to fish for sea run salmon. I've been living in Alaska for many years and have hit the bottom of the supply while fishing here. I still utilize many east coast patterns and some are more effective than others. This pattern is one of the better producers in late day & low light conditions.
As I continue to resupply myself the flies are beginning to look as if I've tied wets like this before. After tying a nice bunch of each fly they are looking more and more like their namesakes. For the Cains River fly the colors are about as close as I can get them, I have taken the liberty of adding a small bunch of light magenta bucktail to the underside of the tie. I feel a slightly larger profile will aid in the flies effectiveness, we shall see. I enjoy seeing photos of Salmon files so please post some of your favorites. -This I like, the colors are made to help the fish to catch.
