Jonathan,

I think that Goose biots are definitely the way to go for smaller hooks; the other side of the rachis (stem) may be an even better solution for barbs for a #18 or smaller.

If you get it working on a #18.................. and if you just happen to have a spare dozen or so just sitting around, I have an address that you can use to lighten your load.

Second message - here's an adult LBS; tied with a CDC collar. Maybe some ideas here that would help you in downsizing your nymph:

And a little more for you on small LBS nymphs:

Cool! I was ready for bed, but had to tie one of these after seeing it. I tied it on a Mustad 9671 #18. No problems with the smaller hook, but I just happened to have a pack of small black goose biot.

Thank Pocono, those links were great to see. That Wally wing is always a cool feature and floats surprizingly well...allowing the body to hang under the film with the wing sitting flat on top of the water.

Heres the same #12 with Gold flashback and brown ribbing

...and the size 20 went well enough, no lead in this one.

Another member asked about the dry I fish so I'll just post it here since I already uploaded to the gallery.

Deadly! For GL steelies, real short slow swing tight to the bank or close to anything and everything sticking in or out of the water. A few more weeks and they'll be all over the place around here! Really cool pattern! Thanks for posting this.
