No Problem buddy........ ever tye it in brown and orange?? Would be a killer Northern Smallie Fly!! .!

What would have want for a Brown over orange version?

Blue and black okay......but olive and that brown over orange are killer colors here!!

.............and I know a thing or two about Maine Smallies.

5/0 Daiichi 2461
.025 lead free wire
Large 5mm Pyrex fly rattle
1/4 silver Spirit River deep see eyes
Pumpkin loco legs
Rootbeer Spirit River palmer chenile
pearl Spirit River palmer chenile
2mm green thin closed cell foam
Softex
Rust glitter
Pearl glitter

aroostookbasser,

I have tied the Palmer Mud Bug with a few color variations. I'm pretty sure those colors you suggested would be hot anywhere. I am field testing the mud bug and a few other creations this weekend up in Presque Isle Wisconsin. If they work well I could tie a few up for you to try out in Maine.

On a separate topic. My father who basically fishes of the dock, bangs Smallies all day long with a rubber lizard carolina rigged. I couldnt find any great lizard flies so I decided to make my own. I was curious if the Smallies in Maine chase lizards and if you have any suggestions on this topic. Thanks!
