Default Boca Raton Options? And the Florida Bucket List...

Hey guys, I may be relocating to the Boca Raton area for a couple months (January thru June), and was wondering what to expect fishing-wise.

What freshwater and saltwater species are available for an angler without a boat or kayak, what are good patterns, techniques, and gear to use, etc.

Also, I was wondering about what else I should see and do while in Florida. What other fisheries are worth a crack at? I was thinking of trying for peacock bass around the Miami canals, and also going to the St. John's River for the southernmost American Shad runs in the US. Any other recommendations?
