Default Catawba River(North Fork) below Lake James dam

i've heard that there is a really good trout population below the Lake James dam in the hatchery supported section of the Catawba, and i would love to fish it becuse its close to Charlotte where i live and i'm short on time this weekend. My question is, is it accesible? and if the dam is not generating can i wade it or do i need a boat? any help is greatly appreciated!

I can't help you but I can suggest that you contact Bo Cash who owns Table Rock Angler in Morganton and he can probably help. Bo has has operated this fly shop for many years and is very knowledgable about streams in his area. I don't have his phone number but you can do a Google and find him....Best fo luck !!
