Default Bead Heads

i have come across a problem i bought size 1/8 gold bead head which are suppose to fit size 12-14 size hooks as i am told and stated on the package. i have tried several kinds of hooks and they just don't fit. Is there a problem that i don't know about. Should i use a certain kind of bead head for a certain kind of hook. i thought they were universal. Any ideas?

It seems as though you have the correct bead size for those hooks. Sometimes you have to force the bead over the barb.

And second option is flatten the barb which gives you a barbless hook, I use barbless hooks for all my trout fishing.
