Default Chasin' NC Rainbows

Anyone get a chance to get out and fish today? I did for a couple of hours in Surry Co., NC. Had a dozen on and brought ~8 in. Not a bad day for 2hrs in February!

It was some beautiful weather on a really sweet stretch of water.
A tandem nymph rig was the ticket with the top fly a a size 14 pheasant tail and bottom fly a size 18 zebra midge (white thread body w/ black wire and black bead - give it a try for those fish that have seen all of the black zebra midges in the world). Most of the takes were on the bottom zebra midge.

Not a lot of surface action. On these mountain streams around here, I rarely see alot of surface activity. Tailwaters are a whole different animal, but where I've been, it's 99% caught on nymphs.

Best of luck to ya'll!!
