Default leader or tippet

i use only a leader it depends on how long sometimes but i never use a tippet. what is the difference in using a leader or a tippet. it seems that when i tried a tippet it never lasted to long since i change flies pretty often. when i use a leader when it comes to be to short i just tie on another piece of leader. for one its easeir and cheaper then replacing tippets once or twice a day . i'm a novice as you can tell thanks for explaining this to me .

You can use the same leader for long....just change the tippet using a knot,or easier a loop to loop connection or mini 1mm rings...It's cheaper, and you can adapt you tippet to fishing conditions and fly sizes

Sean, the tippet is both the end section of your leader AND the line you attach when that end section starts disappearing. When I spent my time spin-fishing/using conventional gear, what is now a "tippet" is what I would refer to as "leader". To put it in a way that is either understandable or very confusing, the tippet is the "leader" for the leader. It is pretty confusing at first, but basically, whatever comprises the finest part at the end of the leader (whether you added anything or it was straight out of the package) is your "tippet".
