Smokies: April or June?

I have two options, I can head for GSMNP the first week of April or the first week of June. I've been there before in June and did "okay" but I am wondering if the first week of April is about the same, better, or wrose. Thanks for any advice.

Either one.......the extended forcast looks ok for next week....mid 30's to mid 50's. Monday and Saturday in the mid 60"s!!! Some folks are posting some fish reports on the web. Which side of the mountain do you have in mind??

Well I've done the TN side pretty good so this year I thought I'd do the NC side. What would you recommend?

sending you a PM.....just a heads up......441 across the gap is closed from just above smokemont campground to the top due to a landslide that took out the road. May not be repaired until late May.

Sorry to be late to your discussion. Answer: both.

I spent Easter weekend fishing the Smokies. The spring has been late this year, so the water is cold. The fishing has been slow, but ready to take off. The first 2 days I fished were tough. It was cold (30's and 40's). The next day (Saturday) it warmed to the 60's and the fish started snapping (mostly on nymphs).

First week of April was likely disappointing. Everyone expected the big days to arrive, but they didn't. The hatches were unpredictable; good afternoons, slow mornings.

June will be better. Fish will be biting in most of the waters. Enjoy the trip(s).
