Default Hilton Head - summer

I am planning to go to HH this July. I would like to try and get in a day of fishing. What can you tell me. I have left this pretty wide open so as not to narrow any responses.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks

Based on where you will stay, you have a couple of options. If you go to South Beach Marina, you can hire a boat or you can rent a kayak. Outside Hilton Head will rent them and there are some real nice places within a couple hundred yards of South Beach. Lots of reds and trout. If you can go to the Sea Pines office and get a fishing pass(free) and there are a lot of lagoons within walking distance and you will catch some nice reds. I will try to get some maps and more information for you later this week. I go fishing just about every night in Sea Pines. I will get back to you and if you think of anything else let me know.

Never did it, but I have been told that you can fly fish the surf with a sand flea fly and catch pompano.

for tarpon you will most likely need a boat and/ or guide. but if you want, on the island here you can go to Palmetto Dunes, They will rent boats or a guide and you can catch lots of reds and 25lbs and up tarpon. It is about 6 miles from harbor town. The fish get land locked in the dunes. The outfitters there is big in to fly fishing. I will find their web site this weekend.

here is the link for palmetto dunes Palmetto Dunes Outfitters ~ Hilton Head Island, SC

also I was rereading your post, Harbour Town is in Sea Pines. I wasn't sure if you knew. Sorry if you did. As for more tarpon, you would want to go to the port royal sound. That is on the north end of the island. Second place is about 1.5 miles offshore from the southern tip of the island - t hole and ladyfish hole. Those are good tarpon areas.
