the best peacock bass fishing is in the Miami Ft Lauderdale area. Peacock Bass are very tempurature sensitive. That's why they tend to go no further north than Ft L. During extreme cold fronts they pull back south. If you can get to the east coast do it, some of the best, prettyest, out of S. America. You can find decent guide shops on the internet.

Unfortunately There are not any peacock bass in the Charlotte area. I recommend searching for a different game species such as spotted bass, common or grass carp, or stripers for fly fishing on lake Norman.

Just respect the waters of course!

I don't know that I'd drive 10 hours to fish Lake Norman, especially with the great fishing on Florida's Gulf Coast.

I somehow missed this post, sorry. Are you still looking for info? The Ohara area canals hold snook and baby tarpon. Just a 5 minute drive away from The Rays Stadium, the area behind it is a State Buffer Preserve. Sam Knight Creek and Tippicanoe Creek, holds reds, snook and small spinner sharks.
