Default Hiawassee / Ocoee

My son and I've been fly fishing for about a month now. We've had a ball catching Blue Gill and Bass using poppers, in the muddy warm waters of Middle Tn. In a couple of weeks we are heading up to the Hiawassee / Ocoee Rivers to a little kayaking and fishing. This will be out first trip for Trout. Wanted to see if anyone could recommend any good places to wet a line. Thought maybe some feeder creeks might be good to hit.

Also, if anyone has any tips or tricks for the area, we'd sure appreciate them. I have a feeling the clearer water will be harder to fish.

Fly suggestions?

We'll be using 7'6", 5wts,

Thanks!

Maybe I'm wrong, but I was always under the impression of using long rods when floating. Like 10 foot. But I think anything would work.

Check out hiwassee.net , there you will find lots of info on fishing the hiwassee. They have a "plan a trip" section. I've had the best luck from the powerhouse down to big bend while wading. Be sure to check the tva generation schedule.
