Default Help I am moving to Memphis!

I am engaged and when I get married next May I will be moving up to Memphis while my fiance finishes school. I have never fished in Memphis and have no idea where to go.

Currently I live in South Carolina and in an hour I can be fishing for trout in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is rainbow, brown, and brook trout waters that I wade in. I have a small 10 foot angler kayak that I use for small lakes around SC and have used in rivers before but really would prefer to wade and not boat. Either way I am open to any suggestions for trout fishing near or around Memphis. I prefer rivers but I am open to stillwater suggestions as well!

Lots of good places in Arkansas: White River, Spring River, etc.

Read on line about them. You can be fishing at Mammoth Springs in 2.5 hours.

I have read about some of those so thanks for letting me know I am on the right track! I was just wondering if there was anything closer than 2-3 hours away :/

OK, please don't be offended by this but I would love it if you were engaged to a girl named Eleanor!

There is a lot of great warmwater fishing not far from you. There are some huge crappie in that part of the country. I don't know much about the trout fishing there.

I think that was a "Gone in 60 Seconds" joke and of course I am not offended! Her name is Lauren though :/ sorry to kill the joke lol

On another note I do enjoy warmwater fishing but have never really had a problem finding places to fish in that type of environment. I cant ever seem to find good trout waters lol idk why

Not "Gone in 60 Seconds"...It was a Beatles joke and you may be too young to get it. It was fun while it lasted. Your last name does have one too many letters to technically work though.

So, I guess poor Eleanor must remain lonely.

HAHA I guess that is what they call a generation gap! Memphis Raines drives "Eleanor" in Gone in 60 Seconds but I do know the Beatles song you are talking about, Im Rigsby though not Rigby... lol good effort though it gave me a smile on a rainy day!

There's great bass and crappy fishing in the reservoirs.
But trout, no. You'll have to drive for them.

The Lil Red coming out of Greers Ferry Lake will be the closest to you, barely 2 hours. It's good kayaking or ok wading. Browns, brookies and rainbows ohh my!
