I recently purchased a Redington Prospector and am very happy with it. The Dear Creek series is also a fabulous rod and has somewhat of a cult following because it has proven to be a quality rod time and time again.

If your interested I have a st croix 1106 that doesnt see the water anymore, was my first 2 hand rod and was a great entry into the sport. If your interested shoot me a pm, maybe we can work something out. If not, my vote is for echo in the $300 range. I have not casted allen rods but they seem to have a good following on this board, its also pretty nice to see them posting a response to you!

Echo SR comes in a 1006-5. I have the 1010-6 and love it. I believe the msrp is about 329 and with this new batch as of somewhat recently they got rid of that god awful seafoam green blank.
