Hi,

Welcome to the forum, obviously you're excited about the catch. Very nice fish there by the way. I hope you might stick around a little and share some of your experience with some other members. Adding your location to your posting info in the upper right corner is always nice so we know your general area of the country.

Don't be a stranger,

Ard

Thanks for the welcome. I was fishing the upper Klamath in northern Ca. near the Oregon border. I have been fly fishing for quite a while but am fairly new to spey casting. I was swinging an egg sucking leach when that little beauty grabbed on. Fishing has been slow on the klamath and Rogue we could definitely use some rain.

A 7 wt would probably be better. I wanted to do some lake fishing for trout with mine and went with a lighter set up. I'm sure I would have my hands full with a 12lbs steely.
check out the combo setup from Moriston rod co. Very affordable and great quality. I didn't want to spend a thousand dollars to get into spent casting and their setup was just the ticket.
