Default Line for Amago.

I just picked up an Tenkara USA Amago rod. I have ordered some 4.5 line for it. I have 3.5 for the Iwana 12' and was wondering if anyone has this rod and what lines they fish. Using for river fishing.

Cheers,
Craig

3.5 should be fine unless it is windy, also a furled would turn over really nicely.

As a general rule, most tenkara rods tend to be pretty adaptable to being able to cast a fairly wide spectrum of line sizes and types, within reason of course. I find that one tends to optimize line choices more based on where you fish, what types of flies you fish, and how you like to fish them, rather than match a particular line size to a particular rod.

Talk to TUSA about the line for the Amago. Said the 4.5 level line is great and a 3-5' 5X tippet as a basic set up. Using nymphs right now so i'll give it a go and change up where needed. Thanks.

Cheers,
Craig
