Default Fargo- Late April

I'll be going to Fargo for business the last week of April...is there anywhere within a 1-2 hour drive that would have decent fishing this time of year? I'll only have possibly an afternoon free but would like to wet a line while I'm there.

Northwest Minnesota just got another 18" of snow a couple days ago. Lakes will probably still be frozen over. Red River will be flooding as it does every year. I imagine any other river in that area will also be flooded. Minnesota side all game species seasons will still be closed. Aside from knowing I never want to go back to north dakota. There ain't much else I can tell you. Have fun.

I live in Fargo. I don't think there will be anything open at all. Maybe the ottertail but I'm not sure what is legal. Maybe just rough fish.

Well maybe I'll leave the fly rod at home until my next trip out there this summer. Lol. Thanks for the info.

We have enough ice on the lakes in central ND that people are still driving pickups out. Eastern ND doesn't have many options even in the summer. East of Fargo in MN they have good bass and pike fly fishing but the season will be closed. You would have to go West to the Missouri River. Trout on the river is a 4 hour road trip from Fargo since you have to get below the dam.

Never fished for pike before, maybe I'll try that out later this year.
