Bowfin are cool creatures... They also breathe air and can live out of water for days if not weeks

Yet extremely far away. Bowfin are native to our waters... Occupying them for over 400,000 years... while the snakehead comes from Asia.

Can't stand this winter weather in Wisconsin, so I decided tho post a picture of a fish I caught last summer to help anyone else cope with this cold weather. Caught this bluegill in my grandparents pond while on my way back from Cabelas, and decided to use an 8 wt that I just bought. I found a fly that I left lying around and decided to cast. I swear the gills in their pond are on steroids, and this fish fought like a smallmouth. Click the image to open in full size.
