Trout stocked river but no luck in catching any trout but got something else... a good sized Spotted Crappie...

- with Grasshopper fly, #2 hook

Nice Crappie, Blue! I'm jealous that you are already using hopper patterns! a few more weeks to a month before I can use my favorite pattern here.

also-- almost 50 views and I'm the first to reply???? Come on guys-- a nice fish pic is always worthy of comment....

LOL... thank you raindot.... that fish is so picky... I can see it but doesnt want to bite any of the other fly patterns... so with grasshopper... which is unusual for the time of the season... the fish chose that one... that fish has a different taste...

Last year's spring trout fishing was mostly done at one local lake, and there were tons of crappie to be caught during May. I preferred the crappie to the pale stocked trout there, but have been busy terrorizing the trout at another local stream for the last month.

That is indeed a nice crappie, and reminds me that I need to take a few minutes of my time to catch some myself.
