Re: Another bluegill fly question - sources?

I GOT THE FLIES TODAY! They look FANTASTIC too! I'm going to give yours and DukeoFurles' flies a go tomorrow evening with a few friends at a new place I recently learned about. I'll try to remember my camera and take some pics of the whoppers we catch.
Thanks again everyone for all your help!
Chris

Thumbs up Re: Another bluegill fly question - sources?

Well, a friend and I went out to a local county park yesterday evening to give my new flies a go, and boy did we have a great time! I tried a black cricket that I got from dukeofurl but the fish weren't really on top only a few small bass and bluegill were interested. Then I went deeper with a nymph (green with a fat head and tiny eyes) I got from fshfanatic and caught a good size bluegill on almost every cast! BTW, fshfanatic what do you call that fly? Thanks again to ya'll for such a great forum with great comeraderie (sp?) and information!
I've attached an example of one of our catch (hopefully i did it right):

Thats what I like to hear! I knew I shoulda charged more!
Is that the one that I sent you a few of? If so it immitates a waterdragon which is a dragonfly larva. I have great success with them for 'gills and small bass as well as trout..

Glad they produced for you. That is a nice 'gill. How did the fly hold up? I was experiencing technical difficulties while tying those..

I will if I get time. I am getting ready for a huge trip in the AM. Maybe mobarclay can post a pic for me. It is a real easy tie.

Yeah, a waterdragon sounds right. It held up pretty well but the one I was using lost an eye but it still caught a few fish after becoming mono-ocular
I'll be glad to post a pic of the fly - maybe tomorrow.
Fshfanatic - I hope you have a great trip!
