Default Went to the small creek again yesterday.......

And it did not disappoint, AGAIN!!!! I found a relatively deep pool (3-4 feet amongst the avg. depth of 1 foot) and it was loaded with fish. Caught a small shellcracker, and a lot of big bluegill, red breasted sunfish and pumpkinseed! Also finally got a decent bass on the fly! My 2nd bass at that!

Good to hear you're finding some fish! You caught some nice Gill's from what I can see and the bass is a beauty.

The bass was kind of funny.....the only bass I have caught on fly before was 12 inches (maybe). So I have been trying to find a bigger one, and when I hooked this one I thought it was another sunfish trapped in weeds. There is a lot of weeds in the creek and several sunfish have felt a lot bigger due to the added weight of weeds to the line. So I finally saw it was a bass! Bass are close to impossible to catch on this creek, esp. at mid-afternoon. You can see them everywhere, but they won't bite. Oh well, I have found a new favorite fishing hole and it's closer to my house than the lake! And I don't have to pay to fish it!

Your question has haunted me for days now. I never thought of spotted bass where I was, and while possible......I am pretty certain this one is a largemouth. It's hard to judge by the pics (mouth and dorsal spines), but I am sticking with largemouth. Maybe I can go re-catch him for a more thorough analysis!

Another smaller bass I caught and a really small redear sunfish

looks like all us "gilly" fishermen need to visit Alabama. BTW, if it's a spotted bass, it should have a rough patch on its tongue.
