Default took my son to a farm pond

Decided we should catch a few decent sized 'gills this evening so I got permission for us to fish a farm pond that holds some very nice 'gills.

My son used his 5wt Redington and caught a couple big enough to qualify for his "Fish Ohio" pin for the year. (9" qualifies and he had one 9 1/2")

I hooked a few good ones too, and they put a serious bend in the new 8'6" 3wt Ross rod. Finally got to test it with a few decent fish and it performed well.

Happy boy! - (that was the first fish he caught - 9")

That is awesome! Catching bluegill and crappie on the fly rod is what hooked me as a youngster. I used to visit farm ponds in northern MD as a kid spending hours catching them. What a blast!

Congrads taking the little guy out!

Robert.
