AJ- Sure, spin and baitcasting guys fish for them with live pinfish and I've hooked and jumped them (but was only briefly connected) on 7" Rapala Minnows while blind casting.

I caught a small lady fish about that size while fishing for sea trout on some flats in FL a while back. The fish wasn't in very good shape when I released it-- and couldn't be revived. It swam in circles while flopping on the surface near the skiff.

We forgot about it while fishing until the water exploded right next to us and scared the yogurt out of us.-- It sounded like someone had dropped a Buick in the water. It turned out to be a 120lb or so tarpon.

I bet the fly would work great for tarpon especially in backcountry spots with stained water- I've caught tarpon in such spots on deceivers and bunny strip flies as well as key style stuff.

Great tying guys!
