Default Disaster of a trip reminded me what fly fishing is all about.

I had all sorts of fishing adventures planned for a short business trip to Orlando, then it all started falling apart. My work load doubled, 2 extra meeting were added to my schedule.
I land in Orlando and of course, they lose my bag!!! I could care less about a few pairs of khakis and some polo shirts, but my beloved 6WT combo and 3 dozen flies were lost. I imagined them going around endlessly on the wrong conveyor belt. I jumped in a cab in the worste mood I've been in a while, checked in and realized my hotel was on a golf course, I was surrounded by ponds with Largemouths splashing around without a care, like kids in a swimming pool. What did I do to deserve this torture?
Just when all was lost I realized that Bass Pro Orlando was only 10 minutes away, I picked up a ready to fish 5WT Redington combo and a handfull of Wooley Buggers and had a great time between meetings, no guide, no fancy hardware, no flybox full of "secret weapons"

Hated to hear about the loss of your outfit but appears you made a wise decision going to the box store and grabbing some emergency pain relief medication...

Thanks Dave,
Still have hope that Spirit Air will call with good news.

Largemouth fishing seems like a SO MUCH better use of that open space than playing "pasture pool".... Happy that you were able to salvage your trip, and I hpe that they find you baggage. If they don't, might the airline be "on the hook" for a NEW 6wt?

I don't mind a round of golf every once in a while but I agree, I'd rather fish the ponds than play the greens. I already have my receipts ready in case the bag doesn't turn up.

Glad to hear you avoided a complete let-down. I've been down the road of the airlines losing luggage twice. One time they found it, the other time I was compensated for my losses. Hopefully your airline finds your luggage!

I once had a bag show-up after a DISASTEROUS trip with US Airways from Albany to Washington, DC , some 8+ months after my return flight to Albany. Plus, it was almost five months after US Airways had "settled-up" on the cost of the bag and my belongings. After the bag showed-up, their claim department asked for 33% of the settlement back, and told me to keep the rest for the "inconvenience", as I had to buy clothes and a small suitcase to get them home, while I was in DC. I reminded them that my receipted expenses while in DC were more than the 67% that they were allowing me to keep, and they dropped the matter entirely, just giving me my belongings back....

Lesson Learned: It's OK to fly US Airways, but NEVER through Philladelphia!!!!! (This was my SECOND bad US Airway experience routing through Philly!)

I hope I get them back, I get attached to my gear. I'd rather have my stuff back, but some cash will soothe the pain...

Bad news about the lost luggage, but it looks like you made the right decision to get a replacement fly fishing rig to explore those ponds with!

Hope you get that call saying they found your lost gear, but great that you turned it around!
