Cold & wet here in southern Ohio today so I got online and was shopping for fly tying materials to make some streamers I'd seen. I ordered the materials I didn't have, then got thinking about how good green had been working lately.
Tied up 3 flies to be slightly different and after I had run some errands I stopped by the local lake.
Assembled & strung my 6'6" 5wt Grey's rod.
Tied one of the new flies on (the one on the top in the pic below - #12 standard dry fly hook).
Cast to shallow water off a point where I've been finding a few nice 'gills recently.
Second cast and a hard strike!
Hauled this one in.
A few more 'gills and I moved to a submerged log and made a retrieve along the side.
This bass liked the looks of the fly, too!
None of them huge, but still some fun on a dreary day.
By then my fingers felt like it was February instead of April, so I headed home.
The water felt so warm today in contrast to the air (a good breeze blowing, too) the fish felt like handwarmers.
