Default Upper Potomac Pennyfield Lock

I had a great day at Pennyfield in late September - just put the trip report over on the blog. Not exotic, no real big fish, but a great time.

Pennyfield was night and day different from Seneca Breaks. While the breaks were rough and wild, with water - even with the drought - crashing through with enough strength to take your feet out from under you, Pennyfield is calm - almost lake-like.

When I was there, it was about 3 feet deep, easy wading with the smallies all around. They were hiding under the weeds - probably surrounded by the bluegills who would race to hit the popper first.

I worked across the river (see the map on the blog) and down an island across from the lock where there was enough current to hold the fish. caught a decent number of tough, little smallies - had a great late afternoon!
