Default Thank god its Friday on a fly.

Got to go to the pond and try out some of my flies that I've been tying, and they actually worked.

This one was on a foam beetle. It worked way better then the foam ant I tied.

and this one was on a bead head prince nymph.

I also caught my first crappie. Funny thing is they should not be in there. No pics for this one. For some reason I couldn't get the camera to focus right.

There were many many other gills caught but didn't bother to get the camera out for them.

Always fun to catch fish on your own "creations"!
Sounds like you'll be spending more time tying flies in the future.

Congrats on the great looking fish! I agree it is always the best when you hook fish on your own flies, gives me a real sense of satisfaction that I fooled a fish with my fly.

I know bass look all over for food-- up, down, side to side...

But it's just too much fun when they are looking up to bother with any other kind of fishing!

Nice work and congrats on the quarry on your own ties. keep experimenting and don't be afraid to look to the baitcaster's lures for your own fly designs-- I've caught some monsters on flies that looked like absolute abominations, but they made the right amount of noise and movement.
