Default More cats and drum

Long story short, I journeyed down to the river again today and put the smackdown on some Channel Catfish and Freshwater Drum. I caught a lot of "baby" catfish, a nice sized drum, and a pig of a channel cat. There's an interesting story about the drum though. He ate my fly, but still had a bottom rig in his mouth too. Sinker and everything. So, I removed my fly and cut the hook as short as I could. I moved up right by the dam and had my fly absolutely slammed by a catfish. It was a heck of a battle. He was even bigger than the last one I caught. I thought I was going to lose him because he wrapped himself around some rocks and I had to go out after him. I also ended up biffing it while in the water and ended up soaked. It was another great day for fly fishing the warm water.

Good looking fish!
Those channels always get my attention. You might overpower one, but it never seems to lose it's will to escape.

Those catfish are beasts when it comes to fighting. They really do fool you into thinking they're much larger than they are. I could have sworn I had a massive carp on today. Plus, they hit the fly like a Tomahawk missile at mach 2!

Sweeeet channel brosef, I'm requesting a day off next week so we can get out to the river and get some serious fishing done. I take it the river is in pretty good shape from your pics! Hopefully we can find one those Big Erie drums sitting in your river too!

Nice pics and report. I've said for years now that if you tied a Channel and a Rainbow tail to tail, that trout is in for one heck of a dragging! Love Kittys on the fly.
