I hit the muddy water today and had myself a blast. I lost two monster carp right away. They were all over, but I couldn't convince them to hit. I ended up getting a Crappie, 2 Smallmouth Bass, 3 Channel Catfish, 6 Freshwater Drum, and 1 Flathead Catfish. The flatty put up a GREAT fight. He just hugged bottom and wouldn't budge. I'd compare it to hooking onto a CSX locomotive and having it idle away from you. No huge runs, just sheer power. I love it!

I met up with Piscator and his buddy yesterday for some more muddy water fun and we had a blast. The water was really low and it took a little more effort and time to find the fish, but we did. We all ended up catching a nice variety of fish. Gar, cats, buffalo, carp and drum.

Here's Piscator and I with my carp.

Fast forward to today for round 2. I started out the day by losing two big buffalo. However, I got my game on and hammered the Freshwater Drum. There may be a round 3 tomorrow.

A couple shots of one of the big drum.

Those are some absolutely piggish carp and drum! Looks like a great time! Could you post some photos of your usual go-to flies for muddy water?

This is how we in FL "hook" gar. A bit of poly rope frayed and attached to any fly. Their teeth get caught up in the strands of rope..And they are "hooked"....works every time

No need to my friend. Size 6 bead-head black bugger. Easy as pie and slays the river monsters.

Today was round 3 and I think I'm gonna cool it down for a while. I've been doing so much fly fishing that my hands are cut up and my casting hand is blistered. The fishing was kind of tough today and I only had about an hour to fish. I took my buddy out who is just learning the ways of the fly. He missed a few nice fish, but he's coming along nicely. I set him up with the basics and now he just needs a little practice.

I managed 1 fish and missed 2. I spooked a big carp and set the hook too soon on another buffalo. The fish I landed was a Quillback. It put up a fun fight on the 6wt though!
