Default another fun weekend!

well i had a great weekend! i got up early saturday and fished my favorite smallie stream. i took my new TFO hawleg 8wt. and Allen Alpha reel out for its first voyage the combo worked great on the acrobatic smallies! i fished with a popper all morning and had hits until noon. i caught my personal best smallie too.

then yesterday after the kids and the wife laid down for their after church nap, i headed down the street to my home creek. i caught several smaller LMs and on my last stop in the creek i had this nice LM come up and inhale my popper! he put up a great fight and of course headed straight to a logjam. luckily with my new setup i could just muscle him out and land him.

my best smallie on the fly

i gotta admit where im located does have me spoiled i can catch stripe, smallies, or largemouth with 20minutes of the house. or i can drive 45min. to the north and catch browns, rainbows, and brookies ( not native though). i dont know what ill do if we move to the panhandle. my wife is looking at a nurse job in gulf breeze.

Those are awesome fish. I live in some great trout country but seeing pics like that I yearn for some warm water action like that on a fly.
