I'm not much of a Trout fisherman so Chain Pikerel are my only cure for the winter flyrodding blues, this is probably the fish I'm MOST grateful for

Thanks thorsten, it's actually a Chain Pikerel, a smaller cousin of the Pike. I believe it's the smallest of the family.

None around my area, not sure how far I'd have to travel to find them.

I guess the largest pike which was caught in our local river was around 1,15m which is aprox. 45".

Three species of Pickeral . Grass Pickeral maximum size about a pound average 6ozs. Redfin Pickeral maximum about 2 lbs average 8ozs. Biggest of the picks is the Chain Pickeral average 1 to 2 lbs maximum about 9 lbs. 30 inch chains are not uncommon !

Pike are the next up on the Esox species list.
